Call for Papers

35th INTERNATIONAL CYCLING HISTORY CONFERENCE
Klaten, Indonesia | 16–20 May 2026

 

The International Cycling History Conference (ICHC) invites scholars, researchers, curators, and cycling enthusiasts to submit papers exploring the history and evolution of bicycles and cycling culture. Topics may include bicycle design and technology, iconic brands and figures, significant historical events, and contemporary perspectives on cycling, sustainability, and urban mobility.

 

We welcome original research and interdisciplinary approaches that contribute to a deeper understanding of cycling’s past and its relevance today.

For consideration by the Publications Committee, abstracts must be delivered to Phillip Sanderson, ICHC Publications Committee, at [email protected], by March 30. 2026. Persons who submit abstracts will be notified about acceptance within 10 business days of receipt of the abstract by the Program Committee. It is expected that presenters will follow up with a formal paper in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format to be delivered to the Publications Committee, at [email protected], as soon as possible after the conference , but not later than June 21, 2026, for publication in the Conference Proceedings. All illustrations for the paper must be submitted as individual image files with a resolution of at least 300 dots per inch (DPI), to assure crisp clean reproduction in print.
