35th INTERNATIONAL CYCLING HISTORY CONFERENCE
Klaten, Indonesia | 16–20 May 2026

 

The 35th International Cycling History Conference (ICHC) will be hosted for the very first time in Asia, taking place in Klaten, Central Java, Indonesia, from May 17–20, 2026

 

The event is organized by two major cycling heritage organizations in Indonesia:

 

  • KOSTI (Komunitas Sepeda Tua Indonesia) – the Indonesian Old Bicycle Community, one of the largest heritage cycling organizations in the country, with members across the archipelago committed to safeguarding the legacy of classic and historical bicycles.
  • Penny Farthing Indonesia (PFI) – a community dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture of historical bicycles, especially the iconic high-wheel or penny farthing cycles.

 

The main venue for the conference sessions will be the Pendopo Kabupaten Klaten, the traditional Javanese pavilion that serves as the cultural and governmental hall of Klaten Regency. This unique setting provides an authentic cultural atmosphere, blending Indonesia’s rich heritage with the international academic spirit of the conference.

 

For accommodation, the official conference hotel is Tjokro Hotel Klaten (website: https://tjokrohotel.com/klaten conveniently located and offering modern facilities for delegates and participants. The hotel is situated only 500 meters from the Pendopo Kabupaten Klaten, allowing guests to easily reach the main venue either by a short walk or by bicycle.
